SPEACS presentation: Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) flyer

This hybrid event from the Parent Information Center of Delaware, the Delaware Department of Education and the University of Delaware's Center for Disabilities Studies will present the basics of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

Attendees will also learn how AAC facilitates literacy and language strategies that can be used in both the home and at school.

Augmentative and alternative communication is a method used to supplement or replace speech-language production for those individuals who have speech or language impairments. The goal of AAC is to achieve the most effective communication for the individual. AAC options can include: gestures and facial expressions, writing, drawing, spelling words by pointing to letters, pointing to photos, pictures, or written words.
