Bio:

Julie joined the Center for Disabilities Studies in 2024 as the Program Coordinator for the Career and Life Studies (CLSC) Program. With over 30 years of experience in serving and advocating for clients with disabilities, Julie has a rich background in coordinating services and promoting the inclusion of school-aged students in public education settings. Her previous roles have included educating staff and parents on various topics; and, in her most recent position, she served as an Equity Champion, promoting a supporting the equity of individuals in marginalized populations.

In her role as Program Coordinator, Julie supports students with intellectual disabilities as they navigate campus life and develop essential self-advocacy skills. Her focus includes helping students pursue their academic, interpersonal, career, and independent living goals within an inclusive college environment. Julie acts as the primary liaison with student life and support offices, including residence life and academic departments. Additionally, she designs and delivers workshops and course modules for CLSC Program students, interns, and UD undergraduate staff. Her responsibilities also involve advising and providing individualized coaching aligned with students’ person-centered plans.

Julie earned her undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Delaware and holds a master’s degree in Special Education from Wilmington University. A long-time resident of Delaware, Julie lives in Wilmington with her husband, youngest child, and dog. Both her husband and oldest daughter are University of Delaware alumni who have actively supported the disability community through volunteering with Special Olympics and designing adaptive clothing.

In her spare time, Julie enjoys a variety of activities including reading, cooking, playing pickleball, and spending time with her family at the beach.
