Kara Baron
Bio:
Kara is a career coach at Spectrum Scholars, a comprehensive college-to-career program for students on the autism spectrum. As a career coach, Kara supports students with one-on-one coaching and mentoring in career exploration, networking, resume building, independent living skills and self-advocacy. Kara is passionate about fostering students in their career development.
With a strong background in career counseling, case management and community outreach, Kara brings a wealth of experience to her role. Kara has a B.A. in English/Education from Marist College, M.A. in Journalism from Iona College, Exceptional Children and Youth Certification from the University of Delaware and Autism Certification from Wilmington University. Kara’s teaching experience extends to higher education, having been an English/Critical Writing Instructor at Goldey-Beacom College and an instructor of Developmental English, Critical Writing, Literature and Journalism at Delaware County Community College. Before joining Spectrum Scholars, Kara was a case manager and special education teacher in both general education and special education settings. As an intensive support teacher, she has experience working one-on-one with students with disabilities across all settings.
Originally from New York, Kara lives in Wilmington with her fiancé, two daughters and German Shepherd puppy. She enjoys traveling with her family, outdoor activities and volunteering in the community.
