Your Health Care Rights
What is the ADA? The Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA, is a law that requires your doctor to provide high-quality health care services to everyone regardless of their disability. With ADA, you have the right to equal access to health care services. Understanding your healthcare rights is important to make sure your health care needs are met.

With ADA, you have the right to:
- Reasonable modification of policies, practices, and procedures: this right says doctors must provide care that best supports and meets your needs.
- Effective communication: this right says doctors must share your medical information in the best way for you. This could include sign language interpreters, large print, braille written materials, or other communication needs.
- Accessible facilities: this right says medical buildings and parking lots need to be free of any obstacles to allow people to access their appointments safely.
