UD is postponing Commencement and related graduation ceremonies, which were scheduled to take place May 30. UD officials are seeking input from graduating seniors on alternatives to the traditional in-person event. No new date for Commencement has been announced yet.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) warned taxpayers to beware of calls and emails purporting to be from the IRS seeking personal or financial information. The IRS commissioner said that the agency will never call or email individuals with requests for that information, pointing people instead to IRS.gov for up-to-date information on financial matters such as the “economic impact payments” that will be sent to most Americans in the coming weeks.
The Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens with Intellectual disABILITIES announced it will cancel the 2020 Blue-Gold Football Game and related activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Blue-Gold Game, featuring Delaware high school football all-stars, has for 65 years provided activities that bring together athletes and cheerleaders with buddies who have intellectual disabilities.
Health insurance company Highmark will waive deductibles, co-insurance and co-pays for members who are hospitalized because of the coronavirus, the company announced today. The waiver applies to in-network providers and will last until May 31. Highmark previously waived out-of-pocket costs for COVID-19 testing and telehealth sessions.
A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association – Psychiatry has tied pre-eclampsia – a mother’s high blood pressure during pregnancy – to increased risk of epilepsy, intellectual disabilities, hearing and vision loss, cerebral palsy, ADHD and autism in children. The study used a Norweigian health database to track almost 30,000 children exposed to pre-eclampsia.
