Utilities taking steps to support customers during COVID-19 outbreak

The spread of the coronavirus is prompting utility companies, including Delmarva Power, to suspend service disconnections and waive late fees. A spokesman for Delmarva said it will be working closely with customers on a case-by-case basis to establish payment arrangements and identify other energy assistance options that may be available to them.

Advocates supporting people who are homeless have written Gov. John Carney, noting that many homeless people are at high medical risk and are unable to self-isolate. Coronavirus in Delaware: Tally climbs to 26; more updates

State officials are confirming cases in 20 New Castle County residents, three Kent County residents and three Sussex County residents. Just one week ago, Delaware announced its first confirmed case of COVID-19. The News Journal also notes changes and updates to food bank operations, restaurant and other business operations, unemployment and the state’s April 28 primary.

DART will reduce service statewide

Citing business closures, reductions in staffing and lower ridership levels with the ongoing spread of COVID-19 in Delaware, DART will operate on a reduced service schedule. Customer Service call center hours also will be reduced.
