Two federal courts prevented the Trump administration from implementing a rule that would have created new barriers to immigrants with disabilities and others seeking to enter the U.S. The new rule would decrease an individual’s chances of admittance if he or she is judged likely to apply to social programs such as Medicaid, SNAP or Social Security. The Trump administration is expected to appeal the rulings.
The 68 million Americans who rely on Social Security will receive a 1.6 percent cost-of-living increase in their benefits next year, the Social Security Administration announced Thursday. Christina School District announced it will resume autism respite services after the state agreed to bolster the program’s finances. Gov. John Carney said the state will provide additional funding through this fiscal year in exchange for more oversight over the district’s management of the program.
State lawmakers and members of Gov. John Carney’s cabinet met Monday to find money to restart the Delaware Autism Program’s respite services. State Rep. Paul Baumbach said the Office of Management and Budget was looking for money in the current fiscal year it could divert to maintaining respite services.
