With the help of the Coulstons, a Delaware couple, Kevin Fortunato, a young adult with a mild intellectual disability who is also on the autism spectrum, discovered what he wanted to be – a full time teacher. He is also now an advocate for transition services and advocacy work.

Ryan Coleman, a young adult on the autism spectrum, uses a hug/squeeze machine to reduce anxiety he experiences. The machine was inspired by one created and used by Temple Grandin, a renowned professor on the autism spectrum, but built far more cheaply by Ryan’s granddad.

President Trump signed into law a bill co-sponsored by Sen. Coons that eliminates a tax penalty on student loans that are forgiven due to death or permanent disability. The IRS had treated the canceled debt as income, which for some led to thousands of dollars in tax liability.
